Dallington's Years 5 & 6 Summer Camp runs on a two year rotation. One year is a short camp which runs over three days and two nights (usually held at Lambourne End Activity Centre in Essex) and the next year is a longer camp running over five days and four nights (usually held at Mill-on-the-Brue Activity Centre in Somerset).
At the centres, the children will take part in outdoor activities and challenges, whilst also looking after themselves and their possessions in a house shared with the other children in their class. Examples of the potential activities include: zip wire, slide ‘n’ glide, archery and a climbing wall. These are conducted by qualified staff at the centres and safety equipment is provided.
The activities are designed to be challenging, but most children rise to the occasion. Taking part in these activities will encourage the children to work together as a team, build their confidence and give them resilience as individuals to overcome obstacles.
The children stay in a house with other children from Dallington, in rooms shared with their friends. Staying together in a house with their classmates gives the children a sense of individual and collective responsibility, maturity and confidence as they become ready for secondary school.
This trip is a fantastic opportunity for the children to grow and mature as individuals, as well as make fantastic memories with their friends and classmates.
