Our school was founded in 1978 by Mogg and Evan Hercules
“My passion and determination, combined with an unerring belief that children should be included in their learning and listened to, as they expressed their thoughts, ideas and opinions drove me to create my own school.”
1977 - Evan and Mogg Hercules acquire 8 Dallington Street, the former site of the Gatehouse School
10th April 1978 – Dallington School is born, with five children on the roll
2009 - Mogg is awarded the Ted Wragg Lifetime Achievement Award (with Distinction)
2018 - Mogg is appointed an MBE in the New Year Honours List, for her outstanding services to education and Dallington is rated Ofsted Outstanding
24th August 2019 - Mogg Hercules, Founder and Teaching Headteacher of Dallington School for 41 years, departs to The Great Classroom in the Sky. Of course, she has to sort it out when she gets there, before the start of the new term!
The core of Mogg’s educational ethos was celebrating childhood. Our school lives on in loving memory of our founders with this intention at the heart of everything we do.
