World Book Day

Lurking throughout the classrooms of Dallington School were more than a few lively book characters! Characters from all sorts of wonderful stories such as Fantastic Mr Fox, Horrid Henry, Rainbow Fairies, Flat Stanley, Matilda, Snow White, James’ and the Giant Peach and The Gruffalo. We even spotted a couple of Twits, a Baudelaire child and of course, more than a few Harry Potters!

As part of our celebration of World Book Day, we held a Bookie Breakfast in support of Book Aid. While all the children arrived at school having had their normal breakfast, Friends of Dallington provided milk and biscuits as an extra treat which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

To add to the excitement of the day, each child was given a free book token to spend at Waterstones, either to put towards a book of their choice or exchange for a free book!

EYFS children met the 10 Little Bookworms in a special story time and enjoyed a Bookworm Treasure Hunt.

It was lovely to see Middle School children take the time to pick an interesting book and, once we had returned to school, settle down immediately with a cosy cushion to begin reading their chosen volume.

All in all, it was a lovely day. It is safe to say that at Dallington School "WE LOVE READING!"
