Shakespeare Assembly

A school assembly both fun and informative in the basement where we lay our scene, Catherine hosted an assembly which focused on William Shakespeare.

The main learning objective of this assembly was that the children learnt that the works of Shakespeare are still a fundamental component to literacy and the English language; which will help with Year 5 and Year 6's Summer Core Topic which focuses on the infamous Bard.

The assembly covered various topics relating to Shakespeare such as his life, his career as a budding young actor and the vast genres of comedies, plays and tragedies Shakespeare wrote during his lifetime like Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing and Romeo and Juliet.

As we are a school in the heart of London located near the Globe Theatre - the children found out that there were many local links to Shakespeare such as plaques, street art and placed where Shakespeare once worked or resided in Jacobean London.

Parting is such sweet sorrow but to mark the end of this assembly, a short creative film depicted the origins of the Globe Theatre, how the Globe was constructed and how the Globe is an important entertainment arts venue which continues to represent the life, history and works of one of the United Kingdom's most notable auteurs.

Thank you to Catherine for hosting this assembly.
