This week, Year 2 experienced a taste of farming in the heart of the city with a visit to Hackney City Farm.
The visit was in conjunction with Year 2's Summer Term Core Topic of 'Animals', in which Hackney City Farm provided the perfect opportunity for the children to get up and close with a range of farmyard animals.
Whilst, at the farm, the children became budding husbandries when they participated in a few animal themed activities which varied from creating animal fact files, writing about the adaptations of each farmyard animal and sketching realistic drawings of the flora and fauna in the farm's woodland area.
The children enjoyed their lunch in the sunshine at the farm's walled garden on the grass. Before making the journey back to school - the children enjoyed exploring the woods and had one last look at the animals with the surprise of seeing a group of ducks toddling through the farmyard courtyard!
Thank you to Victoria for organising this trip.
