There was a magnificent musical extravaganza in the basement yesterday, to celebrate the end of the spring term in the form of the Dallington Big Sing.
We have a passion for the performing arts at Dallington and we instil a creative ethos in all children and encourage them to express themselves through the expressive arts.
All our children from Lower Nursery to Year 6 participated in the Dallington Big Sing and have been practising for their performances in their music lessons with David prior to the event.
The purpose of The Big Sing was to invite our school community to an exciting in-house school event that involves music, which has not been possible in the last few years due to pandemic. We even streamed this event live on zoom to any individuals who could not attend the performance in person.
Parents were invited to the Big Sing to sing-a-long to an itinerary of songs that were based around the theme of family and friendship. Some songs that were performed by the children included ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’ from Disney Pixar’s Toy Story, ‘Three Little Birds’ by Bob Marley, ‘You Can Count on Me’ by Bruno Mars and ‘Your Song’ by Sir Elton John.
During the times that each Year group performed to their family members, some children provided an instrumental accompaniment to the songs that were performed. We had an array of fantastic musicianship on display with instruments like the drums, flute, guitar and a glockenspiel assemble performed by all our Lower Nursery and Upper Nursery children to Nursery rhymes!
A special thank you to David who executed, planned and organised this event and to all the children who took part in the Dallington Big Sing either instrumentally or vocally.
We hope all the parents and careers who attended this event in-house or virtually enjoyed listening to all the music talents on show at the Dallington Big Sing.
