Our School and the Local Area.

our routes map in progress!

We are combining some history and geography to learn more about the area in which we go to school. We have begun our main topic by making a map showing the various routes that we take weekly from Dallington to the Finsbury library, Ironmonger Row swimming pool, the playground and for some of us, King’s Square after school. Our history will be relevant to how these paths that we take, have changed over time. We will also be taking a couple of historical walks around Clerkenwell to see some of the significant buildings and sites.

Discover

At the end of last term all in Upper Nursery spent a day at the Discover centre in Stratford. It was a very exciting day where children and some of the adults got to dress up, make spoon puppets, see themselves in wavy mirrors, role play in the various play areas and even put on a puppet show or two. All this creative fun was to stimulate imagination and culminate in the making of a group story at the end of the day for Hootah, the baby space monster, to take home to his planet Squiggly Diggly which was running out of stories. If you would like to find out more about Discover click on the web address below. It really is worth a visit.

Canal
We had a lovely day out on the canal. The sun was shining and there were lots of swans, ducks, geese and moorhens to see.

Charlie and the Chocolate factory.
We have been reading a couple of chapters a day. We all know the story and some of us have seen the movie, but we are enjoying listening to the story. Our favourite part is when Charlie buys the second bar of chocolate with the money he has found and he finds the “golden ticket”…Great excitement everywhere. We all clapped when Charlie found the ticket.
