Growth

We collected sun-flower seeds from a dried sunflower head that was grown in our group last year. Some of the seeds have sprouted but not all. We have also grown sweet peas and beans. The sweet peas were sent home two weeks before half term and the beans will go home for half term planting in gardens. We hope to make bean salad with the beans that will grow from plants kept here at school.

We investigated “paper” as a mini topic, and tried to make our own. We ended up with a soggy mess. Not quite the learning experience we had hoped for, but good fun nonetheless!

Another topic was “balls.” We looked at the properties of balls, their shapes and sizes. We tried to make our own balls from a variety of materials. The ones that rolled were kept for our display. This topic has led to increased confidence and ability in ball skills.

Topics for the rest of the term will include; puppets, butterflies, other languages, mini beasts and corners.

Cooking sessions have produced bread rolls and sweet-corn and potato salad.
