making paper puppets for Goldilocks and the Three Bears |
This term as our focus is storytelling we are looking at a wide range of books, including traditional tales. One of our favourites is Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Through this story many maths activities have followed, for example, looking at the various sizes of the bears, bowls, chairs and beds in the story and learning how to describe them using mathematical terms. We made our own paper puppets of the three bears in order to retell the story. We have also found that many other tales use the number three, such as the Three Little Pigs and the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Our storytelling has led us to use alot of role play using puppets as well as instruments. We acted out the Three Billy Goats Gruff using different sized drums in order to 'trip trap' across the bridge and a cymbal for the troll ofcourse!! We have tried to remember particular phrases from the story especially saying in a very loud voice 'Who's that trip trapping over my bridge?!!! |

| The 'Gruffalo' and 'The Gruffalo's Child' by Julia
Donaldson and have been two stories that have captured our imagination.
The children have been doing some woderful activities surrounding
the story. They have used finger puppets to re-tell the story and
some great artwork has also been carried out. During gym we will use
dance and music to recreate the story. The children will need to use
lots of expression and movement. www.gruffalo.com |
