Farm Visit, Growing and Cooking

Farm Visit

As the visit in the summer term to Willow Farm was so successful, we decided to take the new group of children. School visits, at the farm, are well organised so we thought this would be a good first outing!

The children saw displays of owl flying, duck herding and many different farm animals such as some unusual ones-a vulture. On their return, the children made a wall picture of their visit.

A visit to the farm would make a great family day out. Look it up on their web site www.willowsfarmvillage.com

Growing

As growing is our year- long topic we began the term by measuring ourselves and planting hyacinth bulbs, which we hope will flower in the spring.

Cooking
In this group we try to cook each week. Cookery is a great cross- curricular subject. Where else can you learn about the sources of ingredients, countries of origin ,weighing, material changes, economics, exploring language, etc. and, at the end, EAT the results.

As it is Autumn and Apple Day the children made individual apple crumbles.
