Launching the Floating Bridge

All the hard work, all the thinking, sweating, prototyping, testing, experimenting, laughing, sharing, collaborating and constructing finally came together on Saturday 19th June, the opening public day of the first London Architectural Biennale. This was truly an amazing day – all our hopes were realised and none of our fears were manifested. If you were there on the day, we very much hope you enjoyed it and, if you weren’t we hope you enjoy these pictures and comments:
“… we waited a long time and when eventually the bridge was launched into the pool, great cheers erupted from the crowd”

“2 pm came and we had success … it had worked! Afterwards kids from the school and outside of the school, even grown ups walked across (the bridge)”

“The day was great and I enjoyed it very much. I learnt a lot about pontoons and that children plus a big pool equals big fun!”

“…everybody was very happy, and very wet.”

“I was so excited… it was such a big event and I could not wait even though I was a bit nervous”

“There was a fun party spirit and a good turn out…I had real fun. I was proud to be in Mogg’s group and to have taken part in this project.”

“The bridge was ready and it looked fabulous… when we walked over the bridge everyone was clapping. It was so much fun. I had a really good time.”
"
The pontoon was put in the water, every body cheered…when I stopped on the bridge, it seemed bouncy and nice to walk on…”

“I was just in time for the best part…standing on the bridge…I felt the water on my feet, but the bridge did not sink…”

“When the bridge went into the water it got the most brilliant reception; everyone was cheering and clapping…I just put one foot on the bridge and all I could feel was the tiny sway of the pontoon, rocking me from side to side… It was a brilliant Saturday, which I will not forget…”

“I could not wait for Saturday to come; I so wanted to walk over that bridge…”The Pontoon Came into sight all neat and ready to go! Then, majestically, with a small splash it floated its bulk across the pool to a fanfare of cheers and applause. All in all, I think it was an amazing accomplishment for everyone involved. I was very proud to be part of the team"
