| Project books are brimming with information, thoughts, ideas and beautiful illustrations. As well as The Iliad, we have been looking at life in ancient Greece. We explored Athens and Sparta, as well as life in genera,l at that time. The Years 5and 6 Latin teacher ,joined us for an afternoon and the children had an introduction to the language of ancient Greece. The remainder of the afternoon was devoted to learning about “the father of history”, Herodotus. This lesson was extremely entertaining because of the nature of Herodotus’ writing. One child's grandmother is Greek. She gave the beautiful belt, in the image, to the child's mother. Although the belt is not from ancient times, it is fairly old. As you can see, it is exquisitely made. The children thought it looked as if it might belong to Aphrodite. The children are writing their own Greek myth, using the belt as inspiration and having it appear in their own story, along with Greek gods and goddesses. |

In drama lessons, the children have been focusing
on Greek chorus work and working on ensemble playing. They have been
looking at Women of Troy, by Euripides, which will culminate in an end
of term performance for parents. |
