The fact that we live in London has made this project all the more exciting for the children. Members of the group have been excited to hear about the original sites of the theatres. ‘The Theatre,’ ‘The Curtain,’ and ‘The Globe,’ were all situated close to where our own homes stand now. Other places, such as Bishopsgate, where Shakespeare took lodging, or Norton Folgate, where Christopher Marlowe lived, are familiar to many of the children. As the term progresses, we will further explore Shakespeare’s plays, both the comedies and the tragedies. The children have expressed an interest in Hamlet and it is wonderful they are so enthusiastic. We have managed to procure the basement for art activities every Wednesday afternoon. We are looking forward to using the space and will be working on project- based 3D work after half term. |
