Ariteus chasing Eurydice |
|
Resources and Visits: The National Gallery Here is what one child had to say about her favourite painting: "The Death of Eurydice. Eurydice was walking in the forest and a poisonous serpent bit her so she died and went to the underworld. Her husband Orpheus was so sad and desperate that he went to the underworld. He made a long, long journey and anyone that he met said “you cannot pass” so he played some music on a lyre and they let him pass. That is my favourite painting as it had a magical way about it." |
