A trip to the Tate Modern, in December, will hopefully further the children’s enthusiasm for understanding and appreciating art and on their return, they will become Cubists and Fauves for a day, as well as producing some Picasso- inspired pottery. Other dimensions of our project include Europe, particularly France and Spain, the artists’ native countries, The Second World War (when Picasso remained in Paris searching for ‘junk’ to make into sculptures) and Sylvette David ‘The Girl with the Ponytail’ who has been interviewed by a Dallington mother, who is a journalist.

The images show the children’s representations of Picasso’s 1937 painting ‘Guernica’, which they drew using our computer art programme. The monotone shapes and lines were ideal for computer representation.
