rubbings of coal hole covers

The Clerks’ Well
We have visited the Clerks’ Well on Farringdon Lane and discovered the changes that have occurred to the area over hundreds of years.

Bunhill Fields
We have been to Bunhill Cemetery to look at the headstones and collect data. We have also looked at erosion of these headstones for our science study.

Coal Hole Covers
We recently went to Myddelton Street and took rubbings of the coal hole covers, finding lots of different designs.

Lloyds Dairy
We went out to see the old site of the Lloyds Dairy. It is now a shop called Unpackaged. Many of the original fittings remain. We also looked at a receipt book from the first shop on the site, before Lloyds Dairy took it over, dated 1822.

Ivan’s Treasure Hunt
We have been working on a set of activities to enhance the children’s geographical skills. These activities were contained within a single theme, the search by Ivan, a retired pirate, for his lost treasure and a place to live.

The Owl and the Pussycat by Edward Lear
We will be visiting the Edward Lear exhibition at the Local History Centre to find out more about this writer. We are currently looking at The Owl and the Pussycat in our drama sessions.

Portraits
We have been working on portraits within the group. Whilst drawing self portraits we have been looking at facial dimensions and skin tones.
