One of our parents, who has worked as a milliner for fashion houses such as Versace and Phillip Treacy, came into school to demonstrate her craft. We learnt a great deal and she inspired us to make our own felt hats.

We have a trip planned to Kensington Palace, where we shall be looking at a collection of the Queen’s and the Queen mother’s hats. One of these photos shows the children making their felt hats and the other shows some of the finished products. Another picture shows some of the artwork that the children did, using collage, which incorporated learning how to draw a face in proportion.
