Characters in search of a story and ‘Guess Who?’ riddles. |
|
During the Summer term we further develop our concepts, skills and knowledge through our integrated topic work across the curriculum. Using the theme of ‘Fairy Tales’ we see evidence of the increased competence and confidence of the children to problem solve independently and express themselves socially and creatively fulfilling our learning goals. Following an inspirational visit to the Discover centre and our work with the story facilitators there, we are extending our literacy skills with our own Writers Workshop. Two of our parents are working with the children to create a story book by the children. Writing is also explored through the creation of zig-zag narratives, comic strips and producing scripts together from self initiated plot lines. We have made our own character puppets with which to create our own fairy tales and riddles and write our own puppet shows! In design and technology we are making chairs for the bears and a bridge for the Billy Goats Gruff as we investigate measuring and size. |

We will use the Pixie robots…disguised as
goats …to test the strength of our bridges! The group demonstrates
the ability to make decisions and compromise with increased autonomy.
The children enjoy their increased independence and ability to follow
their own ideas. |
