Visit to Epping Forest Field Centre |
|
This is no ordinary newt. During our pond dipping session
we saw The Great Crested Newt. You need a special licence to handle
these rare reptiles. The children had a wonderful day at the field centre,
walking through the forest in the morning with a biologist, discovering
and learning about bugs and their habitats and, in the afternoon, catching
and identifying the various creatures they caught, with their nets,
in the pond. The children always treated the creatures with care and
returned them carefully to their respective homes. |

The Jumblies |
We have been reading stories about fantasy voyages. The three classics we have focused on are "Where the Wild Things Are" by Maurice Sendak, "The Jumblies" by Edward Lear and "The Owl and the Pussycat" by Edward Lear. They all seem to be going to the same Island. We wondered if it could be the same island? The children have all contributed well to the class display and the topic has generated lots of good discussions. |
