Throughout our school, Science is taught as part of project work.
By integrating different 'subjects' in project work, we aim to give the children the sense of the interrelatedness of the curriculum.
Years 5 & 6
Science is a core-subject in Years 5 and 6, as we believe it is the perfect medium through which to develop children’s thinking skills. We endeavour to provide the children with practical science investigations and experiments that illustrate key scientific concepts. We actively encourage the children to extend their scientific understanding of the world through guided exploration and investigation, frequently allowing the children to pursue their own lines of scientific enquiry.
Science lessons are practical and relevant. Children will have the opportunity to carry out experiments involving making controlled explosions, creating electricity out of fruit, building strong structures as a team and using endothermic reactions to make dessert.
